Here is what we seemed to learn from this year's trip 2009:
- Clean the darn windshield, move white stuff off the dash. It's just not that hard.
- Longer shots
- A bit more effort at image stabilzation manually. Also keep the little tripod thingy on the flip and use that
- Start with a list of scenes you don't want to miss (getting prepped, getting loaded up, coming up to each milestone, leaving each milestone yada yada)
- Battery life was the big challenge
- start with fully charged batteries
- extras if you can get them
- bring external chargers
- make sure car chargers all work perfectly
- stuff at campsite (100 foot cords ?) to make sure can charge at will
